Encaustic painting - a dialogue between order and flow

With a background in design, Therese's work in encaustic explores how structure and spontaneity coexist. Each piece begins with a sense of place or memory and unfolds through layering, mark-making and revision, becoming a quiet meditation on balance, disruption and renewal.

Therese's current work is rooted in the rhythm of the universal pattern of order, disorder, reorder. In my encaustic work, layers of wax and pigments embody this cycle: the harmony of order, the fractures and disruption of disorder and emergence of new patterns in reorder.  The textured surfaces and circular forms carry the memory of rupture while also suggesting renewal. Fractures remain visible yet they are integrated into a new whole - stronger, more complex and more luminous than before. The paintings reflect both a loved one's journey of recovery and a universal human truth; from brokenness, beauty can emerge; from struggle, resilience and from loss, hope.
